e-Visa Turkey

Turkey e-Visa: Basic Information

An eVisa is an official electronic travel document, issued by the government of Turkey, that allows citizens from eligible nations to travel to and within the country. eVisas are also called electronic visas. Whereas in the past all travelers to Turkey were obliged to seek a traditional Embassy visa, today, certain nationalities can pre-apply through our website with a valid passport, a debit or credit card, and digital copies of a few other basic supporting documents. Application processing times are 3 business days or less. Our average rate of application approval for the Turkey e-Visa is 99%.

There are three possible prices for an e-Visa for Turkey: 69 euros, 99 euros, or 129 euros. Pricing is based on the nationality of the applicant.

The Turkish e-Visa system can seem a bit complex if you're approaching it for the first time. At Evisa Express, our experts help you understand exactly what you need to know in order to obtain the right eVisa for your travel. We also examine every application form for completeness and accuracy, leading to our 99% approval rate.

Read on to learn about the types of Turkish e-Visa, the application process, and what happens after your electronic visa is approved.

  • Types of eVisa's

The Turkish e-Visa program is unique in that it offers many e-Visa types, more than most other countries. The type of visa you need depends primarily on your country of citizenship, and, in some cases, your country of residency. Each type of e-Visa has its own requirements for supporting documents. In some cases, there are additional conditions, such as the age of the traveler or the airline used for travel. Please read this article carefully to ensure that you fully understand the Turkish e-Visa requirements for your country of citizenship.

Permitted lengths of stay in Turkey range from 30 to 90 days (total) within a 180-day period, based on the nationality of the applicant.

No matter what your nationality, a Turkey e-Visa is issued for purposes of tourism or business only. All other purposes of travel (including working for a Turkish company) require a traditional Embassy visa.

Another feature that all e-Visa types have in common is the requirement for each e-Visa applicant to have a passport that is valid for no less than 6 months from the date of arrival in Turkey. We screen every e-Visa application for the necessary passport validity before submission to the Turkish government. Applications that do not have the proper passport validity will not be submitted, and all fees will be refunded.

Please be aware that travellers transiting through Turkey on their way somewhere else are not required to carry any type of Turkey e-Visa. For such travelers, all that is needed is a valid passport. Travelers without an e-Visa are required to remain within the transit area at the Turkish airport as they wait for their connecting flight.

  • Transit visa information

No e-Visa for Turkey is needed for travellers who enter Turkey only to transit through to another destination. As long as you do not plan to leave the transit zone within the Turkish airport while waiting for your connecting flight, an ordinary passport is the only travel document needed.

Please note that travellers who wish to leave the transit zone of the airport must obtain an electronic visa in advance, and carry the document with them at the time of entry into Turkey. For information on how to obtain a Turkey e-Visa, see "e-Visa Turkey application form," above.

  • Requirements on arrival

All e-Visa holders who travel to Turkey must carry two documents with them at the time of entry:

    • A valid passport
    • A hard copy of the e-Visa (for example, a print-out from a normal printer)

You will be asked to present each document to Turkish customs officials, who will examine them before welcoming you into Turkey.

Important information

  • The validity of an eVisa (180 days) begins on the date of issue.

  • Every traveller must submit their own e-Visa application.
  • Travelers transiting through Turkey are not required to obtain an e-Visa. However, transiters must remain within the transit area of the Turkish airport while awaiting their connecting flight.
