Cambodian e-Arrival Card essential dates

According to the official announcement made on Wednesday (Dec 13th), the e-Arrival Card is supposed to facilitate foreign travelers, as well as citizens of Cambodia, to enter the country through international airports.

From 2024, all travelers will be able to complete the immigration formalities and health procedure in just one form - an e-Arrival Card.

The Cambodian authorities have also stated that thetrial period will last from Jan 1 to June 30, 2024. During that period, travelers will have the option to fill in an online form or the old traditional paper form. Once the trial period ends, all travelers will need to submit an electronic form.

The official launch date for mandatory usage of the e-Arrival Card is then set for July 1, 2024.

Reasons for the introduction of electronic arrival card in Cambodia

The Cambodian economy is based on four main pillars, including tourism, garment, travel goods export, footwear, agriculture, real estate and construction.

The Ministry of Tourism revealed some crucial statistics on the condition of tourism in the country. In the first ten months of 2023, Cambodia welcomed 4.4 million international visitors.

It is a significant rise of around 180% if compared to the previous year (1.57 million). Introducing the e-Arrival Card along with the already operating Cambodia eVisa system is a step toward a digitalized immigration system that may undoubtedly speed up and facilitate tourism to the country.
