Egypt has extended the list of countries eligible for an electronic visa. This step aims to attract more visitors to the country by facilitating the entire process of obtaining an entry permit. 

The Egyptian government introduced an electronic visa system in 2017. Until recently, e-Visa to Egypt was available to nationals of 46 countries. Now, 28 new countries were added to the list.
 
Thanks to the online visa application process, eligible foreign travelers coming to Egypt can save plenty of time and energy. Egyptian authorities hope that it will boost the tourism industry that has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

What are the 28 new countries that can apply for an e-Visa to Egypt?

New eligible countries include:

Covid-19 restrictions in Egypt

PCR test

A negative PCR test must be taken within 72 hours before departure. However, those flying from North America, South America, London, Japan, China, Thailand, Paris, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Bolivia, Cameroon, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Rome, Republic of Korea, Paraguay, New Zealand, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Suriname, the USA, Peru, and Frankfurt need to take a PCR test 96 hours prior to departure.

The negative test certificate must be issued in English or Arabic

Travelers who haven?t taken a test before arrival and enter the Egyptian governorates of Red Sea, South Sinai, or Marsa Matrouh can take a test upon arrival. They are obliged to isolate themselves until they get the results. Those who tested COVID-19 positively are subject to a 14-day quarantine in their booked accommodation. 

Vaccinated Travelers

COVID-19 vaccinated passengers need to show a vaccination certificate proving taking the full vaccination series at least 2 weeks before their travel. Holders of vaccination certificates are exempt from COVID-19 testing.

-    AstraZeneca

Health Declaration Form

An obligatory Health Declaration Form was introduced by the Egyptian authorities due to the pandemic situation to control the spread of the virus among travelers who enter Egypt. The form needs to be filled out before arrival in Egypt, while a signed physical copy will be required to be submitted during the control when entering the country. Health Declaration Form is a mandatory document for all travelers, without any single exception. 

Please note that the Health Declaration Form doesn?t replace a visa to Egypt!

Health Insurance

One more requirement for every traveler to Egypt is to have valid health insurance covering the entire trip and stay in Egypt.
