Myanmar Visa Types
All travelers who want to travel to Myanmar and don't have visa-free access, must obtain the appropriate type of Myanmar visa before their travel dates.
Visas may differ because of travel purposes, the number of entries and days of stay allowed, necessary documents, and visa application methods.

Diplomatic/Official Courtesy Visa
The diplomatic/official courtesy visa is designed for those who enter Myanmar for diplomatic visits. It is issued for the period of assignment.
Supporting documents for this type of visa include an appointment letter of diplomatic/official courtesy visit from a country of origin and an invitation letter issued by the relevant Ministry.
Tourist Visa
The Myanmar tourist visa allows travelers to stay temporarily in Myanmar for leisure purposes. Its validity period is 28 days.
To complete the application, you need to attach a round trip air tickets. Eligible citizens can apply for a tourist visa online.
Business Visa
The business visa enables its holders to travel to Myanmar for business handling. It can be issued as a single-entry or multiple-entry one.
The single-entry visa is valid for 70 days, while the multiple-entry one can be issued for 3 months, 6 months, or one year.
Myanmar visa application for business purposes required a recommendation letter from an employer in the country of origin, an invitation letter from a company in Myanmar, and a company registration certificate of the company in Myanmar.
The business visa can be extended. You are able to apply for a single-entry visa online.
Social Visa
With a social visa, travelers can come to Myanmar to see their friends and relatives. The single-entry visa stays effective for 70 days, and a multiple-entries one can have a validity of 3 months, 6 months, or one year.
Foreigners need to specify the reason for the visit, the lodging address, and the names of and relationships with the citizens they are going to visit.
Religious Visa
The religious visa is for those who go to Myanmar for religious activities. It is issued for one entry with a 70-day stay and for numerous entries with 3/6 months or one-year validity.
Applicants need sponsorship and invitation letters from meditation/religious/monastery centers both in Myanmar and in the country of origin.
Extension beyond the validity period is possible.
Transit Visa
The Myanmar transit visa is issued for 24 hours to let travelers get through Myanmar to another country. An onward flight ticket is necessary.
Official Visa
An official visa can be obtained by individuals for involvement in INGO activities recognized by the UN/Government of the Union of Myanmar.
Official visas can be for a single entry (70 days) and multiple entries (3 months/6 months/one year).
Employment Visa
The employment visa is a visa for 70 days for persons willing to get employed in Myanmar. Appointment and invitation letters from Myanmar company are required.
Foreign citizens who enter Myanmar on an employment visa need to apply for an employee registration card issued by the Ministry of Labor, Immigration, and Population.
Education Visa
The education visa is mandatory for those intending to teach or study in Myanmar. It can be issued as a single-entry visa for 3 months, or a multiple-entry for 3/6/12 months.
Education visa requirements include a recommendation letter from a respective school or university.
Journalist Visa
The journalist visa can be gotten by journalists who enter the country for media activities and stays valid for 28 days.
The necessary supporting documents include proof of reasoning for travel to Myanmar, proof of being a journalist, login address, and details of contact person/organization/department in Myanmar.
Crew Visa
The Myanmar crew visa is issued for crew members serving aboard a vessel or aircraft. It can be issued as a 90-day single-entry visa or multiple-entry permit for 3, 6, or 12 months.
The required documents for this type of visa are proof of being a crewman with a valid license, proof of reasoning for travel, and contact details of the person/organization/department in Myanmar
Workshop/Seminar/Meeting/Research Visa
The workshop/seminar/meeting/research visa is for individuals who come to Myanmar to attend workshops, seminars, meetings, or conduct research.
It is valid for 28 days and can be extended. To apply, one needs an invitation letter from the relevant ministry/organization.
