Kenya eVisa for UK citizens

Anyone planning a trip to Kenya should check if they are a citizen of countries that need to obtain a visa prior to the travel. Luckily, UK citizens are eligible for electronic visas. Kenya eVisa for UK citizens simply serves as an online alternative to the regular visa issued at an Embassy.

One of the biggest advantages of eVisas is that it's no longer necessary to visit diplomatic posts in person. Now, an application for an electronic visa can be made from the comfort of your home online.

Kenya offers its electronic visa system in three different types, making it possible for citizens of the United Kingdom to apply for a tourist, business, or transit visa entirely online. The approved eVisa should be processed within 72 hours from submitting one's Kenya visa application online and, later on, delivered to each applicant via email.

Types of Kenya eVisa for the UK citizens

United Kingdom citizens can apply for one of the following online visa types to Kenya:

  • Tourist eVisa: a single-entry permit allowing trips to Kenya related to tourism; its holder can explore the country or visit relatives and friends in Kenya. This type of online visa stays valid for 90 days, and each tourist can plan a 3-month stay in the country.
  • Business eVisa: a single-entry travel authorization issued for the purposes of business travel; it allows a 3-month stay during the online visa validity period, which is also 3 months long.
  • Transit eVisa: a single-entry visa functioning as a permit to make a transit stop in Kenya before reaching another final destination. Its holder can use it within 72 hours, starting from the moment of their entry to Kenya.
  • East Africa eVisa: a multiple-entry visa dedicated for tourists who wish to enter Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda more than once. This permit is issued for 3 months and serves for all tourism-related purposes.
