Kenya eVisa Application

Kenya eVisa: Basic Information

Most foreign travelers need an eVisa to Kenya. Despite the popularity of this digital travel permission, the concept is still quite new.

An eVisa is an electronic entry permit issued by the government of Kenya that can be used for tourism, business, and transit. Citizens from the eligible countries are able to obtain their Kenya eVisa online by simply filling out an application form on our website.

An eVisa to Kenya costs 99 Euro, while the price for an East Africa Visa is 149 Euro. The processing time may take up to 72 hours, so make sure to apply at least 3 business days in advance of your trip!

  • Types of eVisa

The Republic of Kenya offers three types of eVisa, each one serves for a different purpose of usage.

Please note that every type of the Kenya eVisa is a single entry permit. You can only enter and exit Kenya once within the validity period. To re-enter, apply for a new entry permit.

    • Tourist eVisa – designed for tourism usage. This includes travel related to sightseeing, as well as visiting relatives or friends. It remains valid for 90 days from the approval date, and you may stay in Kenya for up to 90 days in a row.
    • Business eVisa – dedicated to all business travelers who wish to conduct work duties in Kenya. It remains valid for 90 days from the approval date, and your visit may be up to 90 days in a row.
    • Transit eVisa – allows travelers to transit through the Republic of Kenya on their way to their target destination. The visa is valid for 72 hours from your planned date of entry into Kenya.
    • East Africa Visa –allows you to enter Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda for tourist purposes. The visa is valid for 90 days and allows numerous visits to the three countries.

TIP! Are you going to Kenya to participate in a business event, conference, or just a meeting? Consider applying for the Tourist eVisa to avoid having to upload too many supporting documents!

  • eVisa validity period

According to Kenyan visa policy requirements, how long your Kenya eVisa stays valid depends on whether you have a tourist visa, a business visa, or a transit visa.

The Tourist and Business eVisa both stay valid for 90 days after they are issued. Each of these eVisas is a single entry visa that allows you one-time entry. The maximum amount of time that you can stay in Kenya is 90 days, and you must leave by the last day of the validity period.

The Transit eVisa - stays valid for 72 hours from your planned date of entry into the Republic of Kenya, and the maximum visit length is the same as the validity period.

The East Africa Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue of the document. The visa allows multi-entry within Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.

  • eVisa transit information

What if you are traveling to Kenya not to stay, but to get a connecting flight, boat, bus, or train to somewhere else? This is called transiting, and, just like with other reasons for visiting, it also needs a visa.

If you see your citizenship on the "List of eligible countries," above, then you need a Kenya eVisa to transit through Kenya.

  • Requirements on arrival

According to requirements for entry into the Republic of Kenya, you must be carrying the following documents when you travel into the country:

    - a valid passport

    - a printed Kenya eVisa

As soon as your eVisa to Kenya is approved, you will receive a PDF version of the necessary entry permit via email. Print it out and present it to the customs officials upon arrival.
