Kenya eVisa (eTA) Application
Kenya eTA: Basic Information
Kenya eTA (Kenya eVisa) is an electronic travel authorization introduced in 2005 by the Government of Kenya. It allows travelers from eligible countries to visit Kenya for short-term trips. It applies to land, sea, and air travel.
In January 2024, the Kenyan authorities launched a new Electronic Travel Authorization system, replacing the previous Kenya eVisa program. You can no longer apply for a Kenya eVisa online.
There are three types of Kenya eTA visa. You can get it for tourism, business, or transit purposes. The permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. You must travel during this period to Kenya, and you can enter the country once.
Nationals of the United States can also apply for a multiple-entry Kenya eTA. This visa is issued for journeys related to tourism and business. It is valid for 5 years.
Travelers from eligible countries can apply for Kenya eTA online by filling out a simple application form via our website. Click on the ‘APPLY ONLINE’ button on the left to proceed. The approved document will be delivered to your email inbox.
The processing time may take a few days. We advise you to make the application at least three business days before the planned trip.
NOTE! Kenya eTA is usually issued for a single visit. But if you leave to visit another EAC country (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda), you may re-enter Kenya. Your visa must still be valid!
Types of Kenya eTA
Kenya offers five types of electronic travel authorization. Each serves a different purpose.
- Tourist eTA – single entry – includes travel related to sightseeing, tourism, and visiting relatives. It remains valid for 90 days from the approval date. You may stay in Kenya for up to 90 days from the date of arrival.
- Tourist eTA – multiple entry – includes travel related to sightseeing, tourism, and visiting relatives. It has a validity of 5 years. It can be issued only to the citizens of the United States.
- Business eTA – single entry – for those who wish to participate in conferences and meetings in Kenya. It remains valid for 90 days from the approval date. You may stay in Kenya for up to 90 days from the date of arrival.
- Business eTA – multiple entry – for those who wish to participate in conferences and meetings in Kenya. It has a validity of 5 years. It can be issued only to the citizens of the United States.
