Iran Visa Types

When you travel to Iran, you should get a visa that will enable you to stay in the country without any issues. Note that Iran provides a Visa Waiver Program, but you need to be on the list of eligible countries to take part in it.

There are many types of Iranian visas. Choose the one ideal for you and enjoy your stay without worries. In this article, we present you with different Iran visa types.

Electronic visa

A travel agency can offer you one of the best options among visa types: Iran online visa. Thanks to it you may apply via an electronic device with internet access without visiting the Iran embassy.

It is a very easy and convenient method. Just send a visa application, attach the required documents and wait for the email with your e-Visa.

You can choose between a multiple-entry or single-entry visa in this option.

Tourist Visa

As the name suggests, an Iran tourist visa allows foreigners to travel to Iran for tourism, sightseeing, leisure, or meeting friends/family. It is a very popular visa among travelers.

You can apply for a Tourist visa if you want to stay in the country for up to 30 days. Remember that it is a single-entry visa valid for 3 months, so you can visit Iran once with it. When you leave the country and want to re-enter it, you need a new visa.

Also, there is a possibility of extending the period of the Tourist visa. In this case, you need to contact the Police Department of Aliens Affairs.

Business Visa

This Iran visa type can be used by people who have an invitation letter from organizations, ministries, or public/private sectors and they want to join conferences, negotiations, sign contracts, purchase some products or investigate the market.

When it comes to the Iran entry requirements, you need to submit an online visa application, official invitation letter, trip itinerary, travel insurance, and Iran visa grant notice.

Pilgrimage Visa

If you intend to travel to Iran for a trip to holy places, you can get a Pilgrimage visa. This option is very similar to the Tourist visa (also used for up to 30 days stay), however, the one who might get it needs to be Muslim.

Education Visa

An education visa is a perfect choice for students, researchers, and scholars who would like to learn in Iran.

To obtain it, you are required to have a certificate of eligibility, a valid passport (for at least 6 months), two completed visa application forms and two recent photos. Also, you need to pay the necessary fee.

Diplomatic Visa

In the case of an official visit, mission, or invitation, people who have diplomatic and service passports can obtain this type of visa. There is also a Service Visa used for the same purposes but free of charge.

Travelers are required to prepare two completed application forms, a valid passport, two photos, and an official note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as pay the fee.

Transit Visa

A transit visa is used to only pass through Iran in order to reach the final destination. It is the perfect choice for drivers, merchants, or transit tourists.
