Uzbekistan Entry Requirements
Uzbekistan Entry Requirements are the set of rules that must be met in order to enter Uzbekistan hassle-free. These requirements also include the necessary documentation that a traveler must gather prior to departure. One of the most essential documents that every person arriving in Uzbekistan needs to have is a valid passport, which cannot expire for at least 6 months after the date of planned entry to the country
Apart from a passport, a valid visa is yet another important document to obtain for a trip to Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan's visa policy specifies which travelers must hold a visa to the country depending on their travel purposes, intended duration of stay, and nationality.
Thanks to the introduction of the e-Visa system, nationals of a number of countries can apply for an online visa for Uzbekistan, which requires no Embassy visits and is issued only for short-term stays.
All those travelers who wish to relocate to Uzbekistan and/or work there must obtain a relevant visa directly at one of Uzbek diplomatic missions. Additionally, some countries' citizens need to apply for an embassy visa in person, even for a short-term tourist visa.
Uzbekistan also allows for short-term visa-free entry for certain travelers. Depending on the nationality, visa-exempt foreign citizens can stay in Uzbekistan without a visa for different periods of time, which ranges from 30 to 90 days.
Currently, there are no additional restrictions in the country. As of 10 June 2022, Uzbek authorities removed all Covid-19 entry requirements. Now, you no longer need to present either vaccination or negative test certificates to enter Uzbekistan. The same rules apply no matter which points of entry you choose - air, rail, or road.
Please, however, note that the entry requirements may change at short notice. Confirm the current and up-to-date entry rules with your airline and nearest embassy to prepare best for your trip.

Traveling to Uzbekistan
Travelers to Uzbekistan should bear in mind that borders with Uzbekistan's neighboring countries may be closed without notice, while some border crossings may be closed to foreign citizens. Moreover, the land border with Afghanistan remains closed until further notice.
Before traveling to Uzbekistan, make sure to familiarize yourself with current border conditions. Do also remember to check the recent entry requirements, including Covid-19 restrictions. Although the Uzbek authorities have already lifted all coronavirus restrictions, they may impose some protective measures at any time as the Covid-19 situation evolves worldwide.
All travelers must also remember to register within 3 days of their arrival in Uzbekistan. If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel staff will handle the registration procedure for you. For this reason, your passport will be retained for a moment and then returned to you. If you are staying in private accommodation, it is your host who is responsible for registering your data with the local district OVIR or via the electronic Emehmon system. The registration procedure is mandatory any time you visit different Uzbek cities and stay there longer than 3 days. Failure to follow the registration may result in being fined or even deported.
Entry Rules for Children
There are no separate entry rules for underage travelers.
Parents are responsible for handling all visa formalities (if a visa is required for their nationality) on behalf of children accompanying them on a trip to Uzbekistan.
Transit through Uzbekistan
Since Uzbekistan lifted all Covid-19 restrictions, travelers do not need to provide any covid documents to transit through the country. Passengers transiting through Uzbekistan must, however, meet the entry requirements of the country of their final destination, including testing, vaccination, quarantine, and visa requirements.
To transit through Uzbekistan, one also needs to obtain a visa. Travelers eligible for e-Visa can choose a double-entry visa valid for 90 days and use it twice - on their way to their final destination and on their way back home.
Important: Travelers transiting through Pakistan in a recreational vehicle or accommodating in camping or tents must register their stay on their own via the online Emehmon system within 3 days of their arrival in the country. The registration requires covering a tourist tax which is charged for each day of stay in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan visa requirements
Embassy or Consular Visa
Citizens of around 40 different countries must apply for a visa for Uzbekistan directly at the embassy or conulate regardless of their travel reason or planned duration of stay in Uzbekistan, including short-term tourism-related stays.
Moreover, all foreign citizens must visit the Uzbekistani embassy to obtain a long-term visa or equivalent permit, e.g., a work visa or residence permit.
In order to apply for an embassy visa for Uzbekistan, one needs to have a sponsor, which may be a company located in Uzbekistan (if traveling for business purposes) or a tourist agency (if traveling for leisure purposes). It is necessary to have a letter of confirmation issued by the sponsor. This letter, along with other necessary documents, must be submitted during the embassy appointment.
Since the embassy visa application may take a few weeks, it is advisable to start the procedure well in advance of the planned trip.

Uzbekistan e-Visa
In 2018, the Government of Uzbekistan introduced an e-Visa system aimed at facilitating and speeding up the visa application process. Eligible travelers can choose between a single-entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry type of electronic visa. All these visas are valid for 3 months, and their holder may stay in Uzbekistan maximally 30 days in total.
Since the processing time may take up to 3 business days, applicants need to submit their applications at least 72 business hours prior to their planned trip to Uzbekistan.

Visa-exempt countries
There are also more than 60 countries whose nationals can enter Uzbekistan simply with their valid passports. This visa exemption applies only to short-term stays and does not cover working purposes. To take up paid employment in Uzbekistan, travelers from all countries in the world must hold a work visa.
The maximum length of time that a visa-exempt country national is allowed to stay in Uzbekistan differs between nationalities. For example, Chinese residents are permitted to stay in Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 7 days. Nevertheless, most other visa-exempt countries may spend in Uzbekistan up to 30 days without needing to have a valid visa, while certain nationalities can enjoy even 60 or 90-day visa-free stays.
