Recently, the Kingdom of Bahrain has announced that the country’s authorities were adopting the Green Alert Level. Now, foreign arrivals can enter Bahrain without bothering themselves to perform a PCR test before arrival or undergo quarantine. Vaccination proof is no longer required either.

In practice, international arrivals are welcome in Bahrain like they used to be in pre-pandemic times.

Most covid-related restrictions have been lifted. According to the Ministry of Health, the Green Alert Level become effective as of February 15th, while starting from February 20th, all those who have been contacted with infected persons no longer need to isolate.

In turn, positive COVID-19 cases have to undergo a precautionary 7-day quarantine (Green Shield holders) or 10-day quarantine (those not holding Green Shield).

Green Shield

The green shield is a digital certificate regularly updated by the Bahrain government. The certificate indicates if a traveler has been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Now, the green shield will no longer be necessary to perform regular public activities like accessing restaurants.

Main travel considerations for travelers to Bahrain

  • Foreign travelers from the majority of countries need a visa to Bahrain, or e-Visa (if eligible);
  • Masks are not required outdoors but are still mandatory indoors;
  • Green shield, vaccination passport, or vaccination proof is no longer obligatory;
  • All indoor businesses like restaurants, bars, entertainment centers, etc. remove their full capacity for visitors;
  • There is no distinction between vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals visiting both indoor and outdoor spaces.
