Italian Digital Passenger Locator Form

Please note! The Passenger Locator Form is no longer required for visiting Italy. The applicable Covid-19 entry requirements changed, eliminating the need to fill out the Passenger Locator Form before departure.

The Italian Passenger Locator Form is a digital public health form introduced due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic by the Italian Government on the 1st of July, 2021.

The Digital Passenger Locator Form for Italy provides the country's health authorities with the essential contact information of the incoming visitors.

This helps the Italian Government in tracking the possible infections and protecting both Italian citizens as well as foreign visitors. Should any of the travelers get infected, their co-passengers will be informed, and appropriate action will be taken.

The Italian dPLF is available for all travelers online and can be easily filled out using any working device with a stable internet connection.

Once the form is submitted, each applicant receives their dPLF in PDF format, along with the issued unique QR code necessary to enter Italy without any issues.

Covid-19 restrictions in Italy

As most countries now, Italy has changed its entry rules to adjust to the current situation, implementing a number of safety precautions.

One of the main changes is introducing the Digital Passenger Locator Form that must be filled out by every incoming visitor to Italy.

The health form gives the Italian health authorities the necessary information that can, later on, be used in case of an emergency or possible Covid-19 infection.

Another significant change introduced due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is dividing the foreign countries into several lists. Each list states whether or not citizens of the countries included can enter Italy and on what rules.

Currently, the Italian Government has divided foreign countries into 5 lists; A to E. List A and B consist of countries with the lowest rates of infections and risk. In contrast, the D and E lists state which destinations are banned from visiting Italy/need to meet special requirements to visit.

Countries listed in the list C can enter Italy only after presenting the completed PLF and an appropriate certificate of either:

  • being fully vaccinated (with one of the four approved vaccines)
  • recovery from Covid-19
  • a negative result of either an antigen or molecular test

Travelers who do not comply with the current rules and regulations applicable upon entering Italy must undergo a 5-day self-quarantine period, followed by either an antigen or a molecular test or may be refused entry.

What happens after filling the Italian PLF?

Filling the Italian PLF form online is followed by an email containing the completed form in PDF version along with an individual QR code.

This document must be presented upon arrival in Italy, either in electronic or paper form. Travelers are advised to print the delivered PLF for Italy in case of any technical issues with their devices.
