The Ireland Passenger Locator Form is an online health form providing essential information about the incoming visitors to the Republic of Ireland.

The form has been introduced as one of the safety precautions aiming to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

The Government of the Republic of Ireland has moved the entire form to an online system starting on the 12th of July, 2021.

The Irish PLF must be filled out within 72 hours prior to the planned arrival to Ireland by each passenger aged 18 or older. Not filling out the form when going to or through Ireland is considered an offense.

Since the health form for Ireland has been moved to an online system, filling one is no longer difficult. Applicants should prepare the required documents/information and, using any working device with an internet connection, start the application process online using our website.

When should travelers submit the PLF for Ireland?

The health declaration for Ireland must be submitted within 72 hours of arrival. Applications should be submitted online within the specified 3-day period.

Such a short time before arrival ensures that all the information provided in the form will be up-to-date and relevant.

What happens after filling out the Irish PLF?

Travelers who have completed an online application for the Irish PLF should check their email inboxes. An application receipt will reach each applicant via email. The receipt should then be downloaded or printed to present when setting off for the trip to Ireland and upon arrival to the customs officials.

The Irish Government can contact travelers for up to 14 days of their arrival into Ireland. The authorities can contact Ireland's visitors to give them public health advice, or in case another traveler has been infected while on the way to Ireland.

Irish PLF for children

All travelers under the age of 18 must be included in the Passenger Locator Form for Ireland filled by their parents/legal guardians/or any other adult they're traveling with.

Each adult can provide information of up to 7 children on one PLF. Moreover, children aged 12-17 should also have a negative Covid-19 test. Those aged 11 or below can omit that requirement.

Do travelers need to be fully vaccinated to visit Ireland?

Travelers do not need to be fully vaccinated to visit Ireland. However, if one does not meet one of the two requirements (complete vaccination or recovery), they must:

  1. take a PCR test within 72 hours of arriving
  2. self-isolate in Ireland
  3. take an additional test after arrival

Moreover, the Government of the Republic of Ireland stipulates an additional list of designated countries, which requires travelers to quarantine in a specific hotel. Currently, seven countries are on said list, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The list may change; thus, it's best to double-check it before filling the PLF.

Who does not need to fill out a PLF before visiting Ireland?

There are a few exemptions when it comes to filling out the Irish PLF. However, most visitors do need to fill the health declaration out.

Travelers are exempt from filling the Irish PLF if they meet one of the following requirements:

  • are a worker of the international transport industry
  • are driving a large vehicle carrying goods
  • are a diplomatic worker/have an immunity privilege
  • travel from Northern Ireland

Other than the above-listed situations, every visitor must fill out the Irish PLF prior to arrival.
