Tanzania eVisa Application

Tanzania Electronic Visa information

The Tanzania eVisa is an electronic visa implemented by the Government of Tanzania in 2018 in order to make the visa application process easier for people from eligible countries.

The applicant must be at least 18 years old; have a valid passport that will not expire before the end of their stay; have no criminal convictions for drug trafficking or terrorism-related crimes.

The Tanzania eVisa is a single entry tourist visa that is valid for up to 30 days from arrival with no extensions allowed. The USA makes an exception; all US citizens need to apply for a multiple-entry online visa that stays valid for one year and allows a 90-day visit.

Travelers must apply for their Tanzania eVisa online following a quick and intuitive application process that takes minutes to complete and can be easily done from home. Applications should be submitted at least 10 business days ahead of the planned departure date.

Approved eVisas for Tanzania are delivered to each applicant via email in the form of a PDF file on an average of 7 business days.

  • Tanzania eVisa types

The electronic Tanzania visa can be divided into two types that state the purpose of usage for its holders. Nationals from many different countries that are eligible to apply can choose between a:

    • Tourist eVisa: that allows all tourism-related visits, such as exploring Tanzania, discovering the tourist destinations. It also includes family/friends visits.
    • Transit eVisa: for all transit purposes. It allows all travelers to stay in Tanzania for 7 days when transiting to another country. It does not allow tourism usage.

Both are single-entry permits; the online tourist visa allows a stay of 90 days, and the transit one of 7 days.
