In 2022, the Henley Passport Index rated the Moldovan passport as the 48th strongest in the world. There are 72 Moldova passport visa-free countries.

Earlier, on 28 April 2014, Moldovan citizens were granted visa-free entry to 26 Schengen Area countries, as well as Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania applying the Schengen policy. Visa waiver applies only to biometric passport holders.
