All travellers that wish to visit Lesotho can now apply online for an electronic visa permit. There are two Lesotho e-Visa types that each applicant can choose from.

  • Lesotho e-Visa application

    Choose the visa type (a tourist visa or a business visa) and collect the necessary documents described in the 'Required Documents' section. Make sure you have them on hand while applying. Start the process of applying prepared to ensure successful approval.

    Online application guide for the Lesotho e-Visa:

  • Lesotho e-Visa validity period

    The single-entry visas are valid for 44 days from arrival in Lesotho.

    Both multiple-entry permits are valid for 180 days and allow its' holders to travel to and within the Kingdom of Lesotho. The stay can be prolonged with this visa type on hand.

    Every passport holder should have two essential documents on hand on their travel to Lesotho for control of the customs officials upon entrance. To enter Lesotho without any issues, ensure that you have the following:

    • a valid passport (for a minimum of six months from arriving)  

Required documents

Visa requirements differ according to the visa type you choose. Each applicant should prepare the documents described in this section to ensure their application will be successfully approved.

Tourist visa:

  • a valid passport that will not expire for the next 6 months from the planned arrival date
  • applicant's passport should have at least 2 blank visa pages left
  • a photograph of the applicant taken within 6 months of the travel
  • proof of having travel insurance
  • a yellow fever certificate (applicable to travellers coming from the infected areas, where HIV/AIDS is prevalent)

Business visa:

  • a business license and documentation to validate the business trip
  • current bank statements and copy of the travel insurance
  • a business itinerary that included travel accommodations
  • copy of the applicant's employer letter or a letter of invitation from the Lesotho company
  • all business travellers must register within the Directorate of Immigration. (7 days before arrival, applicants have to present a valid passport and a nationality verification)
  • a yellow fever certificate (applicable to travellers coming from the infected areas, where HIV/AIDS is prevalent)

Please note! Every document provided for business travel in a language different from English must have an official English translation.
