Benin e-Visa - Basic Information
In 2018 the government of Benin introduced the possibility of obtaining a visa in the form of an electronic travel authorization. This system was introduced to simplify and speed up the entire process of obtaining a visa. Thanks to this, the application and ultimately the approval of the visa is much faster and easier.
Any nationality can apply for the e-Visa, with the exception of the 53 African countries that are visa exempt.

All types of visas mentioned above can be used for tourist purposes such as vacation, visiting friends or relatives, attending conferences or business meetings.
- Benin e-Visa application
To apply for an e-Visa, all you have to do is fill in the personal data in the form and a valid passport to travel to Benin. As soon as you have filled out the application and made a payment, you will receive a confirmation by email with the information about when you can expect the e-Visa. The decision on your application should be made within 5 days. Please note that the final decision may take longer depends on the government of Benin. You will receive the approved e-visa by email. Please print out the aproval and show it at the airport in Benin.

- e-Visa validity
e-Visa for single and multiple entry for 30 days are valid for 30 days from the date of entry into Benin.
e-Visa for multiple entries for 90 days is valid for 90 days from the date of entry into Benin.
The validity of the e-Visa begins on the date you specify in the form as the planned entry date.
ATTENTION: In order to be able to apply for the e-Visa to Benin, the applicant's passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry into Benin.
- Transit visa information
Transit e-Visa is only valid for 48 hours and can be used while crossing the borders via road and sea. If you are transiting via air, a tourist e-Visa will be required.
- Requirements on arrival
A valid passport and an approved e-Visa in a paper form are needed for border control at the airport.
To apply for a Benin e-Visa, all you need to do is provide your passport details. No additional documents need to be attached. It is important that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the planned travel date.
It is also important that if you hold a passport from one of the countries that qualify for the e-Visa, you must apply for an e-Visa before traveling.
- You have to apply for your visa at least 5 days before the desired date of entry.
- If you want to transit through Benin, you need to apply for the transit e-Visa.
- It is not possible to submit multiple applications for one person, the government of Benin only allows one visa procedure per person.
- You must print out the approved e-Visa and have it with you during the trip.
- To be able to submit the application, the applicant's passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry into Benin.
